As drivers get older, some may become less confident on the road or have specific concerns about aspects of their driving, health or mobility. Norfolk County Council’s Guidance for Older Drivers programme (GOLD) aims to keep older people driving safer for longer. GOLD offers a one hour driver development session which is intended to help and advise. The session, which can be taken in the driver’s own car, is designed to refresh skills and increase confidence. Local TV presenter, Carol Bundock, is supporting the campaign and took a driver development session to check her driving skills were still as good as the day she passed her test. Carol enjoyed the experience and said: “The feedback I received was extremely informative and has helped me feel much more confident behind the wheel. I can’t recommend it enough.” GOLD is open to anyone over 55 or anyone who has concerns about an elderly family member. For more information about GOLD, visit www.norfolk.gov.uk/mindroad or telephone 0344 800 8020.
